EDCO in Action at the World of Concrete 2005!
Edco makes it's presence felt at the World of Concrete 2005 Las Vegas Nevada as Edco's Pac-8 Air Compressor lends a helping hand to the Decorative Concrete Council, a specialty council of the American Society of Concrete Contractors. On January 19th, 2005 at the Mega Demo Event at the World of Concrete, the DCC had planned to show an exhibition in "Decorative Concrete Overlays". To their dismay, they discovered that the air compressor they had chosen to use at this event was not powerful enough to handle this rigorous task. As a neighboring booth of Edco, members of the DCC asked if they could borrow Edco's Pac-8 8HP Air Compressor which was on display. As always, Edco was there to help, knowing the Pac-8's 16.2 Cfm of free air would be more than enough to handle the task at hand. The rest is history as the exhibit was a success. The Pac-8 Air Compressor was exactly what the DCC needed to complete the exhibition in Decorative Concrete Overlays. All in attendance were impressed with the power and versatility of the Edco Pac-8 8HP Air Compressor and the results exhibited by the DCC. Watch the DCC and the Pac-8 in action, in the movie clip below!

Electric Power Trowels to the Rescue
When you need "Electric" EDCO is here for you. A Washington DC area concrete contracting company recently had a need to finish an 18,500 square foot indoor pour and gasoline power trowels were not the answer because of carbon monoxide asphyxiation problems. That's where EDCO comes in, our electric power trowels were the answers to their job requirements. We offer a full-line of 24"-46",electric, gasoline and reduced speed power trowels!

Removing Roof Shingles
Removing shingles is an easier job with EDCO's Shingle Stick. EDCO's air-powered chisel scalers remove shingles and nails in half the time it would take to use a shingle shovel. This contractor here lets the rapid, hammering action of this ergonomically designed chisel scaler remove these old roof shingles with ease!

Removing a Concrete Cap
EDCO equipment can provide you with an easier way to get a job done quickly and efficiently. We recently used a time saving process to quickly remove a deteriorated concrete cap from our demo pad by using the EDCO 18" Concrete Saw and a Big Stick Chisel Scaler.

First, we cut through the concrete cap to the original level of the concrete pad where there was older concrete. We used the 18" Concrete Saw to cut approximately 16" x 16" blocks at depths ranging from 1 to 3 inches.

Sawing Equipment Information
After the blocks were cut, the Air-Powered Big Stick Chisel Scaler hammered the base of the blocks to quickly and easily disloge them. None of the blocks were pried up.

More Big Stick Information
Clean-up was easy! The blocks, concrete pieces and debris were discarded into a dumpster. Our demo pad is now ready for fresh concrete to be poured to create a new, level work surface.

Cleaning Thick Glue With Strip-Serts
This older model EDCO electric dual-disc grinder with strip-sert accessories was used to remove thick carpet glue at a store in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The glue was so thick and sticky that when the carpet was pulled up it could easily be glued back to the concrete surface without adding any more glue. One contractor on the scene described the glue as the thickest he had ever seen.

Strip-Serts were the correct accessory to use on this jobsite. However, when the job began, instead of cleaning the surface, the Strip-Serts merely smeared the glue around and gummed up frequently.
The trick to this job was to add a generous amount of sand to the glue. Adding sand makes the glue thicken and clump up when the strip-serts slice through it. The clumps are easy to pick up or sweep up leaving behind a smooth, clean surface.

The operator noticed an immediate difference when sand was added. The dual-disc grinder was more efficient in cleaning the floor and the operator didn't have to frequently stop and clean off the strip-serts to keep them working.
